The Power Fade: 2024 World Wide Technologies Championship
The Approach for fades at the 2024 World Wide Technologies Championship
What’s going on TJ Nation! Ann Arbor's Own Good Ol' AK Allen Klutts here bringing you another edition of the Power Fade: The Fades 8K and Above You Need to Smash Your DraftKings GPP's!
The PGA TOUR returns this week after a trip to Japan. We are still abroad, as El Cardonal in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico plays host to this weeks event.
A Tiger Woods design, El Cardonal plays as a Par 72, 7452 yards. Much like its resort course counterparts, wide fairways and large greens are a common theme. Expect higher than average Fairways hit and GIR percentages this week.
Erik Van Rooyan (a.k.a. Honey Mustard.. Get in the Nut Hut Discord to learn the backstory) defends this week. Birdies will be made in bunches this week, and I would expect.a winning score approaching -20.
After a few weeks off, we look to finish the year strong! Bring on the Power Fades for the World Wide Technologies Championship!
Matt Kuchar ($8,500)
Our first Power Fade of the week is a man who over the course of the fall swing has been popular in many lineups. Matt Kuchar makes his PF debut this week, coming in at $8,500 on DraftKings.
Why The Fade Works:
Kuchar has seemingly turned back the clock over the last few months with his solid play. A man who was once left for the scrap heap, he has shown some life and been very competitive.
This weeks tournament is a weak field, lets be honest about this. Name value alone should bump Kuchar up a few percentage points, and not to mention he fits in well with lineups starting Greyserman/ Cam Young.
Statistically, Kuchar does have some warts that lend itself to a fade. Kuchar ranks 59th in Strokes Gained Off the Tee. Additionally, Kuchar hasn't fared the best when it comes to birdies per round. Ranking 43rd in Birdies per round could be troubling for Kuchar, especially considering El Cardonal should play as a bombers track. Kuchar ranks 111th in Ball Speed, which could be problematic.
Keith Mitchell ($9,100)
Our second Power Fade of the week has made a few appearances in the PF this season, and he is back once again. Keith Mitchell, the ultimate boom/bust golfer comes to us at $9,100 on DraftKings.
Why The Fade Works:
When it comes to Killa Keith we all know the story. Lots of birdies, but big numbers as well. The putter has been ice cold for Mitchell as he has lost a combined 4 strokes over his last 2 events. Couple this with ranking 78th SG Putting and it leads us to believe Mitchell will putt himself out of the tournament.
That's it folks for this week's edition of the Power Fade! We will return to you next week as we are off to Bermuda for The Butterfield Bermuda Championship.
