The Pivot Point Image

DraftKings Pivot Plays for the Wells Fargo Championship 2021

We've scoured the DraftKings GPP ownership projections looking for the names that are setting up to be extremely popular in GPP tournaments. More importantly, I'm going to tell you about 2 other players with as much upside at significantly less projected ownership. Ownership leverage and equal or greater upside from the players we're pivoting away from is the name of the game every week for the Pivot Point article.

Popular DraftKings GPP Plays & Pivots

Xander Schauffele $10,500 8%

Quail Hollow is a big boy track that is going to test every golfer in the field this week. At only 8% projected ownership, I can’t find a reason to avoid getting leverage here with X.

Sure, he doesn’t have the best course history but he’s only been here twice and one of those was the PGA championship in 2017 where he missed the cut.

Xander is a much better golfer now than he was back in 2017, which was his first full year on Tour. Since 2019, Xander ranks 1st in the field in total strokes gained on difficult courses over 7400 yards. He's got the ball striking ability that is crucial at Quail Hollow, but I also like his ability to gain tons of strokes putting any given week.

Corey Conners $9,200 11%

Maybe I’m missing something but I was fully prepared to see Corey Conners at 20% ownership AGAIN this week and I was fully prepared to eat the calk AGAIN. I will admit that I was slower to hop on Conners than the majority, but I finally hopped on a couple weeks ago and have no plans to jump off anytime soon.

Since 2019, Conners ranks 2nd in the field in ball striking on difficult courses over 7400 yards. He didn’t have a ton of high finishes during that stretch, but that's because he used to putt with a hockey stick. Conners is winning again soon and I wouldn’t be surprised if it's this week or at the PGA Championship in two weeks.

He doesn’t have a great history here, but again, this is a different player than he was two years ago. Since the start of 2021, he's 2nd in total strokes gained in this field. That's pretty good value for the 12th priced player this week. I won’t spend any more time thinking about this one.
