Sunday Save Your A$$ Parlay: 2024 Players Championship
What’s up, TJ Gang,
The 2024 iteration of The Players has lived up to its reputation. We’ve seen big performances from the game’s best and the course has proved to once again be the star of the show. Day 3 saw a few guys work their way into contention and press the leaders. Brian Harman and Sahith Theegala had monster rounds in one of the best groupings of the day. In addition, Scottie and Rory once again fought their way through the Peter Dye masterpiece. Mav Mcneally and Doug Ghim provided some fireworks throughout the day as well. We expect the course to play faster and firmer today and with a difficult Sunday pin setup, drama will be on the menu. This week I’m targeting the cream to rise to the top in our Sunday Parlay.
Finishing Position Picks to Parlay
Winner: Wyndham Clark (+300 Fanduel)
After two monster rounds to begin the week, Wyndy C came back to Earth Saturday. He still managed a solid 2-under round but saw the field catchup to him. I’m expecting a bounce back today from the reigning US Open champion. On the week, Clark has topped the field in putting. He’s second in birdies, sixth in bogey avoidance, and his tee-to-green numbers have been solid. Fire up Wyndham to continue his streak of big tournament victories and take home the Gold Man Trophy.
Top 5: Scottie Scheffler (-150 DraftKings)
World number one, Scheffler has somehow managed to find himself 5-back of the lead on the final day despite a nagging neck injury suffered on Friday. Since the injury he’s managed to go 7-under par in stunning fashion, carding a birdie on 18 on day three. For the week, Scheff has been top-10 Tee-to-Green, 6th off-the tee, 15th on approach, and top-10 in fairways hit, bogey avoidance, and greens in regulation. Just ridiculous! I’m not overthinking this and we’re firing Scheffler to keep up the pace and land a top-5 finish for us.
Top 20: Ludvig Aberg (-275 DraftKings)
In his first appearance at The Players, the young Swedish bomber hasn’t disappointed. For the week, he’s second in the field Off-the-tee, top-10 tee-to-green, and has avoided bogeys well enough to see himself tied for 12th place coming into the final day. Despite a mediocre round 2, Ludvig bounced back with a solid round 3 in which he gained strokes across the board and went 4-under. I like Aberg to continue this pace from a low-pressure spot and cash us a top-20 to land us our parlay.
