Around the Clubhouse

Around the Clubhouse (angry)

Welcome to your place for all the light-hearted golf content you need.  We will be going around the clubhouse, reacting to many of the viral golf moments of the past week.  From pro golf to your horrific swing, if it makes you laugh, then it may show up.  This week we look at some of the special Open Championship moments. Stay tuned for this week's player to watch.  Grab your beer, and let's get into it.

Royal Liverpool Bunkers

The sand traps this week at The Open were quite a challenge.  We saw guys trying all sorts of ways to get out of them, with some being successful and others not so much.  Antoine Rozner's chip out off one knee almost hit him in the head before heading straight at the pin.  The beautiful bunkers make this shot even more spectacular to watch over and over again.

Cam Young spun this shot beautifully out of the greenside bunker, getting the ball slam on the brakes just as it approached the hole.  The club twirl from the sand, too is ultra sweet.

Rory attempted to take the easier way out chipping sideways, but it did not go as planned.  The second shot similar to Rozner's from one knee was unreal.  Links golf is so incredible!  If only we had perfect bunkers here, I could embarrass myself trying to get out of it.

Behind the Scenes at the open

What a special week of golf it was in Liverpool.  Although Brain Harman ran away with the title on the weekend, the course was so spectacular.

I love the behind-the-scenes of all of the work that gets put in to make these tournaments happen.  The preciseness... the game we love!

This week's winners

What a performance by Brian Harman all week!  Battling the elements to a runaway win.  Spectacular golf from start to finish.

Akshay Bhatia was the second lefty champion of the weekend taking home the Baracuda.  Akshay has been a crowd favorite since his first appearance on tour, blowing up the golf world with his swagger, build, and flow—peak man.

Bhatia was initially known for his girlfriend being on the bag, and although she was not caddying for him this weekend, he talked post-round about her importance to him.

This dude is winning life right now! Akshay is the man.

golfing on ice

This couldn't have gone any worse: swing and miss- CHECK.  Falling straight on back- CHECK.  Smashing through the ice- CHECK.  If you don't have the ability to make contact with the ball on grass, then swinging on ice may not be the smartest choice.  Not worth the hypothermia.

Golfing with sprinklers on

All that to pick the ball up!  This guy took play it where it lies to a new level.  I think the play here would have been to lay down and whack it.  A hard water stream straight to the face is a hard pass for me.  Hopefully that was the 18th.

Golfer to Root for this week

Frankie Capan III

The former FCGU golfer is playing in his second tournament of the year after competing in the US Open earlier this year.  Capan III is a Minnesota native and will look to take advantage of the home week.

Although Florida Golf Coast is most known in the sports world for its "Dunk City" March Madness run, Frankie has succeeded in college and fits this course well.  I think he has what it takes to make a cut and more at the 3M Open.
