The Power Fade: 2024 RSM Classic

The Approach for Key fades at the 2024 RSM Classic

What’s going on TJ Nation! Ann Arbor's Own Good Ol' AK Allen Klutts here bringing you the Season Finale of the Power Fade: The Fades 8K and Above You Need to Smash Your DraftKings GPP's!

With one week left in the 2024 PGA TOUR season, we return to the states for the RSM Classic. Sea Island, GA: Home to the Sea Island Mafia, and beautiful coastlines plays host yet again to some of golf's finest.

Guess what fam! It's the start of course rotation season! Two courses: Seaside and Plantation are the two courses we will play. Seaside plays as a Par 70, just a shade over 7,000 yards. Plantation plays as a Par 72 just over 7,000 yards. Guys will be looking to score on the Plantation and persevere Seaside.

Wedges will be in hand all week and the boys will be trying to go deep ala Ludvig Aberg's -29 winning score last year.

Before we get to the Power Fades for the RSM Classic, I would like to take this opportunity to wish Good Luck to the remaining contenders for the Nut Hut Listener League Championship.

As your current "In a Paul Heymen voice" Reigning, Defending, Undisputed NHLL Champion, it has been the honor of a lifetime to represent this community and I look forward to handing the title off on Sunday Night.

Without further adieu, one last time in 2024 let us take a look at our Power Fades for the RSM Classic!

Ludvig Aberg ($11,200)

We are going to be bold with our first Power Fade of the week and make some history here on the season finale edition. Never before have we repeated a Power Fade from one year to another but we're doing it now. Ludvig Aberg is our first Power Fade of the week at $11,200 on DraftKings.

Why The Fade Works:

Look, we all know Ludvig is the best player in the field. It would be idiotic to say otherwise, but that being said it makes for an interesting fade for DFS.

There is some merit to the fade both statistically and non-statistically. From the non-statistical perspective, Aberg is playing his first event post-surgery. He may be playing this week just to see how the game is and get some reps in a competitive setting.

Statistically, Aberg does have some struggles that makes the fade not the most crazy thing you can do this week.

Aberg ranks 110th in GIR percentage. At both courses you have to hit GIR's to score and have a chance to win. Ludvig was so scorching hot last year en route to -29 that this performance is damn near impossible to repeat.

Consider as well Ludvig hasn't played competitive golf for a minute and we have a formula that best case I think reverts to the mean. If Ludvig isn't hitting greens he also struggles around the green ranking 79th.

The big number has also derailed Aberg in 2024. Aberg ranks 77th in bogeys this week, and if bogeys are on your card at either course, your falling behind in a wedgefest and putting contest.

Aberg will be a polarizing figure this week for DFS, but I have a feeling that we are better served to start our lineups with Georgia's own Davis Thompson for $800 cheaper. It is risky no doubt, but let's be bold with this one and fade the Swedish Stud.

Denny McCarthy ($10,000)

Rarely do we ever fade multiple 10K golfers in the PF, but this week we "Stand on Business" as DB loves to say. Denny McCarthy... ick.. is our second Power Fade of the week at an even 10K on DraftKings.

Why The Fade Works:

Denny McCarthy can putt, thats not a big secret. However having to pay 10K for a guy who if his putter seems to be his best weapon is risky, especially when you factor in high ownership.

Getting off the tee is crucial on these short, coastal courses. Denny has been brutal in SG OTT the ranking 113th.

Scoring hasn't been a friend to Denny either. McCarthy makes birdies in bunches, yes its true but still ranks 62nd in birdies for this field. Bogies are not much better as Denny ranks 66th in the field.

That's it folks for this week's edition of the Power Fade! It has been a hell of season for the PF, and we look forward to seeing you again in the year 2025!

Have a blessed and safe Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years.

Ludvig Aberg

"We all know what Mac Hughes' game is. Magic Beans around the greens and putting. Hughes cannot hit a GIR to save his life it at times. Ranking 91st in GIR on a coastal, windy course where you have to hit greens seems like a recipe for a tough week. At 10K+ on DraftKings this week I'll take my chances that Mac's Magic Beans didn't get thru customs."
