The Wells Fargo Championship 2023 Betting Favorite Cross Sport Parlay
What’s up addicts?
Money Marg here, and we are back this week for the 2023 PGA TOUR Wells Fargo Championship. The Mexico Open “was buzzin” and was a profitable week for the juicers who paid attention. Last week’s Juiced Bet came up just short, but we nailed Tony Finau taking home the title. Those who hedged the Devils on Monday came home with some units. We are looking at a VERY different tournament in North Carolina this week. The Tour is back to the elevated event structure and if you read Nate Mo’s Rundown this week, you’ll know most of the heavy hitters are playing. The entire field will be licking their chops this week with both John Rahm and Scottie Scheffler opting to sit this one out.
The Top of the Wells Fargo Betting Board
Horses for Courses and Recent Winners
You know the deal! Each week, we look at the top few golfers on the betting board and parlay it with another wager outside of the golf world. I am not ready to jump back on the Rory Mcllroy bandwagon yet. Since The Player’s Championship, there has been too much inconsistency and doubt in his game. At the most expensive number this week (+700), Rory is an easy fade for me despite his elite course history.
I can make an interesting case for Tony Finau this week. At +1700, he is firing on all cylinders with 4 wins in the last 18 months. Tony leads the field in SG: Approach over the last 24 rounds and is 2nd from Tee to Green. Tony should contend this week, but the grind of winning and the short turnaround, plus a stacked field hold him back from making it two straight victories.
OUR OUTRIGHT FAVORITE FOR THE 2023 WELLS FARGO CHAMPIONSHIP
Paddy Ice Moseys to Victory!
My pick at the top of the betting board this week is none other than the slow-motion assassin, Patrick Cantlay. Paddy Ice has been trending coming into the summer stretch and he just missed cashing in a victory at the RBC Heritage a few weeks ago. He has the all-around game to win at Quail Hollow and coming into this week, has three top-5s in his last five starts. Over his last 24 rounds, Cantlay is first in the field in Strokes Gained: Off the Tee and Par 5 scoring, both of which will be critical this week.
Cantlay shows up to difficult courses and gets it done. Quail Hollow is an elite test and without Rahm and Scheffler in the field. With former Tiger Woods caddie, Joe LaCava on the bag moving forward, I’m backing the world’s number four player to win. Now Let’s Go Juicin!
Best odds for Patrick Cantlay: +1300 FanDuel as of Wednesday at 9:30am EST
Cross Sport Pick to Parlay
For the second consecutive week, the juice is taking us to Newark, New Jersey. UFC 288 kicks off on Saturday night with a great card headlined by the Bantamweight title fight between Aljamain Sterling and Henry Cejudo. Cejudo returns to the Octagon three years removed from vacating the title to retire. He is an Olympic Gold medalist, multi-weight class champion, and one of the better fighters of the last decade.
The reigning champ, Sterling, hails from the NY tri-state area and will have a hometown crowd at his back. Sterling is an all-around elite fighter who can win by a variety of methods. Despite Cejudo’s pedigree, “Ring Rust” is a real concern for someone who hasn’t fought in so long. I’m backing Sterling, aka FunkmasterMMA, to win this fight that should go the distance.
The Pick: Aljamain Sterling -113 to win
The Juice of the Week: +2438 on DraftKings
It will be an awesome week at Quail Hollow. This is a big-boy course, having hosted the PGA Championship and the President’s Cup, so I expect elite ball strikers to be at the top of the leaderboard. The weather looks optimal with no wind in sight, which should play well into the favorites’ hands.
This week’s juice bet is Patrick Cantlay outright + Aljamain Sterling to Win his fight at UFC 288. Lock it in and enjoy the week! (1 Unit to Win 24.38)
