The 2023 Rocket Mortgage Classic Betting Favorite Cross Sport Parlay
What’s up, Golf Addicts?
Money Marg, back again this week to dive into the Rocket Mortgage Classic at Detroit Golf Club. By now you know the deal. Each week we cherry pick one of the favorites on the betting board and juice them with a bet outside of the golf world. This week we are expecting more low scoring and there is plenty on the line for these golfers. The field this week isn’t strong but there are many big names, especially those who need Fedex Cup points and are chasing a Ryder Cup selection. Nate broke down Detroit Golf Club in this week’s Rundown and the layout is primed for some excitement.

A MIDWEST BIRDIE FEST!
We just saw Keegan Bradley birdie his way to a win last week and I expect the same type of performance from the winner in Detroit. Last year’s winner Tony Finau and Rickie Fowler are atop the betting board in this week's field. Tony hasn’t been himself since his victory in Mexico and the putter has been atrocious so I was surprised by his number. Rickie on the other hand has been lights out. Everything is working right now but the number is too steep in a field and event with this much volatility expected.Â
Collin Morikawa, Max Homa, Hideki, and Tom Kim round out the top of the betting board. Each comes into the week with question marks. We haven’t seen Homa play well since the West coast swing. Morikawa’s putter hasn’t been great and he can’t seem to string together four rounds. Tom Kim and Hideki are starting to track in the right direction but you need to ask the question if they can score low enough to post 20-under par or better. This week I’m targeting a golfer who has been slowly working his way back to top form. It’s going to take many birdies, limited mistakes, and clutch putting to get the job done this week and recent form suggests this could be the week it happens.
OUR OUTRIGHT FAVORITE FOR THE ROCKET MORTGAGE CLASSIC
DEKI DEFEATS THE FIELD IN DETROIT!
This week I’m betting Hideki Matsuyama to win the Rocket Mortgage classic. As I mentioned, his recent form has been improving and the ball-striking has been stellar of late. Short term, over his last 12 rounds, Hideki is 3rd in Strokes Gained: Tee to Green, 3rd in Ball-Striking, and leads the field in approach, opportunities gained, and bogey avoidance. The numbers are also similar over his last 8 rounds at Detroit Golf Club.Â
Looking out further, Hideki has maintained those top-10 ball-striking and bogey avoidance ranks over his last 50 rounds. Despite showing that putting is critical to success at Detroit Golf Club, the recent winners have not been known to be in the top of putting rankings. Although Hideki isn’t known for his putting, he has improved tremendously and has been about even with the putter of late. I’m going to rely on his ability to get chances within 10-15 feet of the pin and make clutch putts throughout the week. We’ve seen him do it at Augusta, so why not Detroit Golf Club? Lock Hideki in as our betting favorite to win this week. Now Let’s Go Juicin!
Best odds for Hideki Matsuyama to win: +1800 on BetMGM
Cross Sport Pick to Parlay
This week’s juice takes us to the baseball diamond for the first time this season. We are officially in the dead zone leading up to the start of the football season so these juiced picks get tougher and tougher as the weeks go on. I’m jumping on a hot offense for this week’s parlay. The Texas Rangers have arguably one of the best lineups top to bottom in the American League. They lead baseball in many offense categories (runs/game, run differential, and batting average) and can also play catch up if they go down early.Â
I especially like this bet because of the favorable pitching matchup. Joey Wentz of the Tigers has not been good this season and this is a bad matchup for him against a team that can string hits together in a hurry. Dane Dunning of the Rangers is also having a break-out year and if he can continue his solid play, Texas should be in a good spot to win by multiple runs. This season the Rangers have been great at home against the spread with a 25-14 record. The run line is currently sitting at -1.5. Fire this up for a nice early start to our Juice’d bet of the week!
The Pick: Texas Rangers to win by more than 1.5 runs vs the Detroit Tigers on 6/28 (+100 on BetRivers)
The Juice of the Week: +3145 on DraftKings
We are getting closer to the end of the golf season and every week counts for guys outside of the top-70 in points leading into the playoffs. The theme for this week is offense and we should see a lot of it at Detroit Golf Club and from the Texas Rangers. Hideki is due for a win and I like his all-around game in this field. The juice this week provides us with a team filled with fire power and the final number for the parlay is not one we can pass up. Combo Hideki plus the 6/28 Texas Rangers Run Line for this week’s Juice’d parlay! (1 Unit to win 31.45 Units). GET THIS ON YOUR BETTING CARDS BEFORE 8pm EST TODAY!
