The 2023 Open Championship Betting Favorite Cross Sport Parlay
What’s up, Golf Addicts!
We’ve arrived at our final Major Championship of the season and all of the sports best have come to The 2023 Open Championship to fight for the Claret Jug at Royal Liverpool. We saw a lot happen last week at the Scottish Open as Rory finished Birdie, Birdie to beat hometown Scot, Robbie Mac. This week should be even more dramatic and a much more difficult test for the golfers. Our buddy Nate Mo, analyzed the course in this week’s Rundown, and if the weather kicks up at Hoylake, well be in for some potential carnage and difficult scoring conditions. I’m jacked up for our last week of Major Golf and I’m looking to cash in big to end the season.
The Top of The Open Champioship Betting Board
A Links Test for the Best!
As with all Majors, the top of the betting board is stacked. Scottie Scheffler (+700) and Rory (+800) come in as top favorites in the field. Both are playing elite golf and Rory has the bounce in his step that we know can start piling up victories. I am going to be out on both of these guys just on number alone this week. In a field this stacked, anything can happen and the cost is too high. I wouldn’t be surprised if either is contending but even with the juice, I don’t see a yield worth the risk.
John Rahm comes in to The Open as the reigning Masters Champion with 4 wins this season. Despite shooting a 65 in the final round at LACC last month, we haven’t seen much of John lately and although he has the upside to win, I value recent form in a tournament like this so I’m going to stay away. Reigning Open and PGA Champs also find themselves at the top of the leaderboard. Brooks stands out as someone who can definitely win here, especially with having experience on the DP World Tour and having Ricky Elliot on the bag. Cam concerns me if he cannot keep the driver in play. This week I’m choosing a golfer to win who has played well at Past Open Championships and has been knocking on the door for a Major all season.
OUR OUTRIGHT FAVORITE FOR THE Open Championship
Viktor is Victorious!
Ladies and Gentleman! It is officially time for Viktor Hovland to step into the winner’s circle and become a Major Champion. Since last year, we’ve seen the Norwegian Ball-Striking machine contend at every major and big event in the sport. He got his “signature win” this year at the Memorial and his ball-striking numbers have been great all season.
Over his last 24 rounds, Viktor is top 10 in Stroke Gained: Off-The-Tee, Ball-striking, and Tee-to Green. He is also only second to Scottie Scheffler during that time, in proximity to the hole. He has been consistently giving himself chances and has somewhat silences his critics with his much-improved play around the greens and from the sand. Fire up Viktor to become the first Norwegian to win The Open Championship and securely cement himself in the top 5 in the sport. Now Let’s Go Juicin!
Best odds for Viktor Hovland to win: +2500 on Fanduel
Cross Sport Pick to Parlay
This week’s juice takes us to the baseball diamond for Wednesday nights game between the Atlanta Braves and Arizona Diamondbacks. Atlanta has baseball’s best record coming into this game and the offense has been firing on all cylinders. Ronald Acuna is in the middle of an MVP caliber season and the homefield advantage is huge for them.
Despite a pitching collapse in Tuesday night’s loss, the Braves still managed to score 13 runs to keep their offense cruising. Veteran pitcher, Charlie Morton is slated to start Wednesday nights game so I expect him to come in and take care of business in a bounce back win. Ryne Nelson starts for Arizona which should bode well for the Braves as they handle righties very well at home. Fire up Atlanta to win by more than 1.5 runs on Wednesday night in the Peach State.
The Pick: Atlanta Braves to win by more than 1.5 runs vs. the Arizona Diamondbacks (-114 on BetRivers)
The Juice of the Week: +4200 on DraftKings
I cannot wait to set my alarm clock for 3:30am EST to tune into The Open Championship. I’ll have my breakfast sandwich and spiked coffee ready for a beautiful day of golf in the UK. Make sure to get this parlay in before 7pm EST on Wednesday. This week’s juice is Viktor Hovland to win The Open and the Braves to cover 1.5 runs. (1 Unit to win 42 Units).
