The 2023 John Deere Classic Betting Favorite Cross Sport Parlay
What's up, Addicts?
Happy 4th of July! I hope you all are able to get out there, grill some glizzys, put down some beverages, and celebrate America with friends and family. We are at our last PGA Tour stop before the fellas head across the pond for the Scottish Open and Open Championship. The John Deere Classic has been a tour mainstay for years, and we are expecting some fireworks to continue and the scoring to be plentiful. Check out Nates Rundown for the deep dive into the course and the tournament history. This week we have a field with golfers who have been close to grabbing a victory and with the playoffs right around the corner, every point counts to ensure a spot in the top 70.
The Top of the John Deere Betting Board
A MIDWEST BIRDIE FEST! (Again...)
Historically, the JDC hasn’t had the best fields and we are seeing more of the same this year due to its spot on the schedule. Denny Putts sits at the top of the betting board with Russel Henley this week. Both have been hitting the ball well and we’ve seen Denny battle it out on big stages recently. Cam Young comes into Iowa fighting for Fedex points and a trip to Rome for the Ryder Cup but his form has been bad and he hasn’t been able to string four rounds together.
Last week’s version of America’s favorite Euro golfer, Ludvig Aberg, is also sitting towards the top of the betting board. The kid can bomb it and he looks likely to contend in tournaments soon, but at +2500, I can’t back him winning when we saw him at numbers higher than +6000 recently. Rounding out the favorites this week are Adam Schenk, Adam Hadwin, Eric Cole, and this season’s winners, Emiliano Grillo and Taylor Moore. This week I’m targeting a favorite who cards birdies, has shown consistency in recent form, and has putted well short and long term.
OUR OUTRIGHT FAVORITE FOR THE JOHN DEERE CLASSIC
SCHENK AND BAKE!
Adam Schenk comes into this week scorching hot. He has three top-10 finishes in his last five events and in this field, all of the metrics point to him contending at TPC Deere Run. Over his last 24 rounds, Schenk is top-10 in Ball Striking, Approach, and Birdies or Better Gained. He’s also gaining strokes with the putter during that time and is 2nd in the field in Par-3 Scoring.Â
We’ve seen Schenk contend this season on a variety of different courses. Colonial played firm and fast and the scoring was difficult in comparison to Detroit Golf Club last week, which was very scorable. I like how he’s tracking this week and the number is solid for what we’ve seen of late. Fire up Adam Schenk as our winner of the John Deere Classic. Now Let’s Go Juicin!
Best odds for Adam Schenk to win: +3000 on BetRivers
Cross Sport Pick to Parlay
This week’s Juice is a no-brainer in my eyes. UFC 290 kicks off on Saturday in Las Vegas with a double main event headlined by Alexander Volkanovski and Yair Rodriguez for the unification of the Featherweight title. Rodriguez enters the octagon this week coming off a win vs. Josh Emmett in a title fight. He looked great in that match, submitting Emmett in the second round and walking away with the title. This fight will not be as easy, as Volk is arguably the best fighter in the world and his cardio is unmatched.
Alexander Volkanovski comes in UFC 290 off a decision loss to Islam Makhachev. Volk went up in weight class to fight Makhachev for the lightweight and pound for pound king bragging rights. This fight was arguably Volk’s best performance in the UFC and it was the first time we’ve seen pressure put on the Dagestanny Lightweight king. Volkanovsky’s cardio in the ring might be unmatched and he will give Rodriguez a tough time controlling the pace of the fight and being able to strike and hold his own on the mat. I like Volk to win this fight in a unanimous decision and cement his spot as Featherweight king of the UFC.
The Pick: Alexander Volkanovsky to win at UFC 290 vs. Yair Rodriguez (-380 on DraftKings)
INDEPENDENCE DAY JUICE!
To Honor America, it would be a travesty if i didn’t include some insight into this year’s Nathan’s Hot Dog eating contest. If you read this prior to first-bite (12pm EST on 7/4) make sure you hammer the under (76 Hotdogs Eaten) for Joey Chestnut this year. The weather in NY has been hot and muggy for days with no end in sight. I think the weather holds back the Hotdog GOAT from breaking a new world record. Add this to the juice if you’re able to or take it straight up!
The Pick: Under 76 Hotdogs for Joey Chestnut
The Juice of the Week: +3565 on DraftKings
Volatility at the John Deere Classic and Volkanovski to Win at UFC 290 will be great watches this weekend. The PGA fields coming up are getting tough again so we should embrace the leverage we get from the studs taking a week off. The season is winding down and in a few weeks, we’ll all be begging for some golf to watch. Hammer home the Schenk/Volk parlay for a nice hit to pad those bank accounts before the links golf season begins in Europe. (1 Unit to Win 35.63).
