5 Hottest LPGA Golfers Heading Into The 2022 Season
Gotcha.
Now that I have you here lets talk some LPGA. With the big news that the USGA is upping the prize purse of the US Women’s Open to $10 million from its $5.5 million they played for last year. (that was the same amount pooled when Ryuji Imada and Kenny Perry dueled it out at the 2008 AT&T Classic). I thought that this would be a good time to focus on five of the golfers who will either continue their dominance, bounce back or break out on tour in 2022. Let’s get this started.Â
Nelly Korda
What would a Tour Junkies LPGA article be without Nelly? Once she finally won her first event on North American soil the floodgates opened and damn near exploded. She then added on four more wins including a Major Championship and an Olympic Gold Medal. The 23 year old is the face and future of this tour.
Lexi ThompsonÂ
Another weird year for Lexi, She now has been without a win since the 2019 Shoprite Classic. The big thing this year was that US Open Sunday. It definitely weighed on her mind for the next few months but she started to find her game again at the Founders Cup. That lead into three consecutive top 10s to end the season and a QBE shootout appearance alongside Bubba Watson where her putter was absolutely en fuego. I think she will win again this upcoming year and win a big one.Â
Atthaya ThitikulÂ
The sensation from Thailand made it through Q-School and will make her way to the United States full time this year. In 18 events across the LPGA and LET she had, wait for this… 15 top six finishes. She’s currently ranked as the 20th player in the world and will be in the top 5 come USWO at the latest.Â
Leona Maguire
Making a name for herself at the Solheim Cup. Leona spent last season knocking at the door of victory with a pair of 2nd place finishes and top 15s in three of the four majors she tee’d it up in. I expect her to break through for a win or two this season.Â
Stephanie Kryiacou
Another Q-School grad. The Aussie will also be making her way across the globe for her rookie LPGA season. Last year she picked up her second LET title among eight other top 10 finishes and a 13th at the Women's British Open. If she floats around the low $7k and high $6k range you better bet she'll be in the article.
The End
Thanks for reading, I look forward to bringing you more poorly grammar’d, unlawfully punctuated. and sometimes witty LPGA content this season (DB still hasn’t fired me). If for some weird reason you’ve actually made it this far I thank you and hope you have a good day. Now for the Nut Hut sales pitch.
If you want more of this content or just to chat with a bunch of golf addicts you should join the Nut Hut. Me being technologically and grammatically inept, I assure you I can get DB to put the sign up link -> HERE.
