The Power Fade: 2025 Genesis Invitational

The Approach for Key fades at the 2025 Genesis Invitational

What’s going on TJ Nation! Ann Arbor's Own Good Ol' AK Allen Klutts here bringing you another edition of the Power Fade: The Fades 8K and Above You Need to Smash Your DraftKings GPP's!

The People's Open once again provided many memories, as Thomas Detry finally got across the line and won his first career event. A special shout-out to our very own Pat Perry who nailed the Detry outright on his betting card! WAY TO TEAR IT UP GOOD PAT!

The PGA TOUR Makes its final stop on the West Coast swing this week, returning to beautiful Torrey Pines. Obviously the tragic wildfires have made playing Riviera impossible, so we are ever so grateful Torrey Pines was able to host for the second time in four weeks.

This week we will have all four rounds at Torrey Pines South. The longest course of the season, which tips out at just under 7,600 yards will once again test the players' grit and determination. While a signature event, we do still have a cut this week. The Top 50 and Ties including those within 10 shots of the leader.

With San Diego ready to host the Genesis Invitational, let's see who will not be staying classy! Bring on the Power Fades!

Justin Thomas ($10,100)

Our first Power Fade of the week is the man who walked it off Sunday in Scottsdale with a hole out eagle. Justin Thomas makes his second career appearance in the Power Fade this week, coming to us at $10,100 on DraftKings.

Why The Fade Works:

JT is an interesting case study for the Genesis. On one hand you cannot deny he had a nice finish to the WM, vaulting himself to 6th place. However, stats can show JT may be in some trouble at Torrey Pines.

Strokes Gained Off the Tee will be a huge asset this week, and JT hasn't shown the greatest gains in this department. Ranking 62nd in SG OTT will catch up to JT eventually, and at a course where being off the fairway is so penal, It may be time to spend extra money and pay up for Rory and/or Scheffler.

We all know that JT can be electric with his irons, (Gaining 5 strokes) but even last week was well above his baseline. Factor in that JT's driver was cooking last week (Gaining nearly 4 strokes), well above his usual baseline and natural regression should lead to him struggling to pay off his lofty price tag.

Daniel Berger ($6,900)

We all know that the PF is an 8K and Above Fades article. However, on occasion we break the rules and go below 8K and this week is one of these occasions. Daniel Berger, who is priced at 6.9K on DraftKings this week is our second Power Fade.

Why The Fade Works:

Berger had a great week at the WM. No one will deny this, but now that we've seen some form, people will jump back on, especially with it being Daniel Berger.

Statistically, Berger struggles in this field in some key metrics, which makes fading the anticipated high ownership a shrewd play. Ranking 43rd in Strokes Gained Approach in this field along with 46th in GIR's Gained is cause for concern. Factor in that Berger was well above his baseline for SG Tee to Green (Gained over 11 strokes last week) and natural regression should drop Berger down the leaderboard.

Berger has also never played well at Torrey Pines. With MC's in his career (Including at the Farmers this year) I think we can look to other players in the 6K range.

That's it folks for this week's edition of the Power Fade! We will return to you next week as we go south of the border for the Mexico Open at Vidanta!
