Welcome to your place for all the light-hearted golf content you need. We will be going around the clubhouse, reacting to many of the viral golf moments of the past week. From pro golf to your horrific swing, if it makes you laugh, then it may show up. This week we look into some tough shots at the 2023 AT&T Byron Nelson and comment on some disastrous golf moments. Stay tuned for this week's player to watch. Grab your beer, and let's get into it.
Why is golf so hard? Moments at the AT&T Byron Nelson

Golf is hard. Really frickin hard and anyone who has played learns that very fast. This week at the Bunny Ranch players tore up the course, but there were still a few moments that will make any golfer rage.
Matt Kuchar’s putt from a few feet out rolled entirely around the hole before not dropping. How does that not fall? As someone that often struggles golfing and gets angry quickly after multiple shanks, this would send me over the edge.
Another nightmare area for normal part-time golfers is the bunkers. There’s nothing worse than being in the sand and having a 4-foot lip to try to get over. Good luck. Now this is a top 3 golfer in the entire world, and compared to many situations, this was a routine bunker shot. That is a confidence booster for most of us who do this about 50% of the time we end up in the bunkie. Once again, golf is hard. Instead of raging when we blade one next time, think about Scottie doing this and take a breath.
Hitting the ball out of the water
Stay out of the pond
This poor dude didn’t even get the chance to take his shot! I’ve got a multitude of questions here. First, that ball looks like it is all the way in the water. He is FULLY in the pond. Even if he flushed that I don’t know if that makes it out. But you have to love the commitment.
Next is what caused that fall. Did he slip, trip over his own feet, was there a drop-off, or did a gator whack him with his tail? Either way, the same result occurred. The most impressive thing for me is the reaction. No embarrassment at all. Gets up and trust falls right back into the poop water. Pretty sure he also lost his sunglasses in the process.
You have to respect the effort, but is taking a drop and adding one stroke to your +42 round going to really make a difference?
Tour Junkies Pat water shot
Now this one is special… Our very own Tour Junkies Pat is making an appearance. If you have not yet seen this masterpiece, you are in for a treat! While probably 8 under thus far, Pat found his ball on the water’s edge and made the big ball decision to play it where it lies. Did it pay off? Eh, that’s debatable.
Pat’s sock and shoe were off in record time, showing no care in the world for what creatures may snack on his foot in a few seconds. I have to say, using the club to test the depth was a pro move! Much smarter than it somehow being waist high and not noticing that until you are already in.
Massive amounts of credit need to be given to the man behind the camera. What a good friend reassuring Pat to go along with this decision. Before going in, Pat mentioned his brand new nice shirt he is wearing, and the response of “Oh they sell more at the turn” is just perfection.
Before seeing what happened, I would have bet large amounts of money that this ball was not leaving the pond. I was wrong, but not super wrong… the ball did leave the water, but in the most painful of ways rolled straight back into the snake-filled pond. Really hope Pat doesn’t use Pro V1s.
Huge respect to Pat for the commitment and also for the shot. Unfortunate result, but the ball left the water and actually went somewhere. It also looks like his precious shirt and shorts came out of the battle unscathed. The cameraman’s uncontrollable laughs just make everything better. We need a film crew on Pat and DB’s future golf rounds for more action like this.
Car in the Bunker
What is happening? The upsetting part about this video is there is no explanation of how the car got there. This has to be on purpose; there’s no way they accidentally got stuck in a bunker, but why. How do you even get into that situation? The starter before the first hole must have really pissed them off last round.
Maybe I’m wrong, but I would be beyond shocked if the person that did this was sober. In order to drive on a course let alone leave the car there, there had to be at least 12-15 beers involved. He almost drove the green, but came up just short!
I can’t imagine they just pulled right into there. The greens are definitely destroyed too. The greens keeper has to be having an aneurysm right now finding the Tokyo drift marks across the 4th green.

Golfer to Root for This Week
Russel Grove
One really cool aspect of the PGA Championship is the PGA professionals that are able to fight to compete in the major. As this is one of the only times these guys are able to compete at this level, I decided to pick one of them as my player to watch this week.
The professional I chose is Coeur d’Alene, Idaho native Russell Grove. At 37 years old, this is Grove’s first ever PGA Championship appearance. He spends his time coaching the Men’s and Woman’s golf teams at North Idaho College and played collegiately at the University of Idaho. Grove appeared in five PGA Professional Championships, before his strong showing this year qualifying him for the PGA Championship.
While I wouldn’t have any confidence in Russ in terms of betting or DFS, he seems to be an unreal putter and putted the lights out on Sunday at the PGA Professional Championships. This is a huge moment for Grove and all the PGA pros that are getting a chance to play, so I would expect tons of nerves. Again, not much confidence in how the performance will be, but Grove has had success golfing from a young age and says that he is just going to have the time of his life playing at Oak Hill. No pressure on him might be the best way to play!
