The Power Fade: 2025 American Express

The Approach for Key fades at the 2025 American Express

What’s going on TJ Nation! Ann Arbor's Own Good Ol' AK Allen Klutts here bringing you the Season Premier of the Power Fade: The Fades 8K and Above You Need to Smash Your DraftKings GPP's!

With our two week excursion to Hawaii in the books, our beloved PGA TOUR returns to mainland USA.

It's course rotation season! With the Pro Am format, we will see LONG Rounds over three courses. Friendly reminder that the cut this week is after Round 3.

Our three courses this week (Stadium Course, Nickalus Tournament, and LaQuinta) will be ripe for scoring this week. Having Amateurs in the field will lead to easy, attackable pins and low scores. Along with easy pins, flat greens will lend itself to this week being a putting contest. Grab your favorite wedge and fire away then sink your putts.

Weather this week is what you can imagine a dome is like. Players should be dialed on their numbers, and if your not firing 66 each day your probably falling behind.

With a high variance event upon us, anything can happen and our Power Fades will be reflecting this strategy. With that in mind, bring on the Power Fades for the 2025 American Express!

Harry Hall ($8,800)

We are running it back with our first Power Fade of the week for the Am Ex.  This man is fresh off a 10th place finish at Sony and a nice Hawaii swing. Harry Hall gets a rare accomplishment of being the PF for a second consecutive week.

Why The Fade Works:

Harry had an impressive run thru Hawaii. But when you deep dive into the stats, you can see there are some trends leading to fading the chalky Englishman.

Looking at his two week stat line, Hall was a wizard with the flat stick. Harry gained over 6 strokes putting while losing strokes on a approach. With the irons between events in Hawaii, Hall regressed over 3.5 strokes on approach. Coming into a week where target golf will be the name of the game, this is concerning.

The long term key range stats on Hall still leave less than to be desired. Bogey Avoidance has been a struggle for Hall, even on this heater. Hall ranks 70th in Bogey Avoidance. If the negative regression with the irons continue, we can expect the Englishman to make a few more bogeys this week which makes him a good fade.

Par 5 scoring will be key this week, as every par 5 between the three course rotation can yield birdies. Shockingly, Hall struggles on the Par 5's ranking 63rd. This could in part be due to Hall's rank of 90th in Strokes Gained Off the Tee.

In a week where you could argue we see the most variance, someone who is showing statistical regression like Hall makes for a great fade. It didn't work last week, but I believe we can cash in fading Harry at the Am Ex.

Eric Cole ($8,300)

Our second Power Fade of the week is a painful one for yours truly. This man has been a fan favorite on my DFS lines over the last few years, but this week I just don't see it. Eric Cole is our second Power Fade this week at $8,300.

Why The Fade Works:

After another Sunday tumble down the leaderboard, many wonder what will it take for Cole to get across the finish line. Eric has been quite the enigma on tour, as we truly see the highs and lows one can achieve.

Statistically, Cole becomes super intriguing. Our DFS darling loves to have spurts of all world play followed by times you look at shot tracker and say WTF..

Like our early Power Fade of Harry Hall, Cole has struggles off the tee. Ranking 128th and 125th in Good Drives and Strokes Gained Off the Tee respectively. Par 5 scoring rears its ugly head for Eric, as he shockingly ranks 128th in SG Par 5's.

Cole has been good with his putter of late, however if the flat stick cools even a touch, he could be in store for big problems at an event with such high variance. It pains me to fade, but it must be done this week.

That's it folks for this week's edition of the Power Fade! We will return to you next week as we head down the California Coastline to San Diego and the Farmers Insurance Open.

A friendly reminder that the tournament starts on Wednesday next week!
