The Power Fade: 2025 Masters
The Approach for Key fades at the 2025 Masters
What’s going on TJ Nation! Ann Arbor's Own Good Ol' AK Allen Klutts here bringing you another edition of the Power Fade: The Fades 8K and Above You Need to Smash Your DraftKings GPP's!
Friends, it's time. Our annual drive down Magnolia Lane begins as the year's first major commences. Glory, Grandeur, and the chance to plan a Champions Dinner Menu are on the line at Augusta National.
A pure American classic, Augusta National plays as Par 72 7,555 yards. As in many years, Tee to Green will be critical, especially on the Par 5s. It is no secret that you score on the Par 5's, then hold on tight for 14 holes.
Weather at this time appears to be pristine for Masters week. With good weather gives the opportunity for the golf ball to fly. When distance plays a big factor, expect scoring to reach -12 to -15.
After nailing two MC's in the PF last week (Aberg and Stevens) we look to continue our hot streak of 7 straight weeks with an MC at the season's first major.
With immortality on the line, let us take a look at who will not be making memories down Magnolia Lane. Bring on the Power Fade for the 2025 Masters!
Rory McIlroy ($11,100)
Our first Power Fade of the week is without question the most interesting and polarizing player of the week. Rory McIlroy, the man trying to finish the Grand Slam is our first Power Fade of the week at $11,100.
Why The Fade Works:
Fading Rory, especially in his current form of two wins in 8 weeks seems flat out foolish. But let's examine some potential reasons why this is exactly the right decision.
From a numbers perspective, Rory hasn't excelled in every key metric. Statistically, McIlroy actually struggles from the key SG Approach 175-200 yards. Ranking 77th from this range is troubling, especially at Augusta National where precision is key.
As stated above, precision is key when it comes to success at Augusta National. This includes Greens in Regulation. For Rory, he also ranks 77th GIR 175-200 yards.
Let's address the elephant in the room with Rory and The Masters. McIlroy wants a Green Jacket so badly that it might be in his head. Combine this with some key stat struggles and fading Rory isn't the craziest decision. It's simple this week. Fade Rory and play Scottie.
Ludvig Aberg ($10,800)
Our second Power Fade of the week was in the PF last week, and he came thru for us with an MC. Ludvig Aberg returns to the PF this week at $10,800.
Why The Fade Works:
At face value, Ludvig has been in a slump outside of playing Torrey Pines. Beside the driver, Aberg's stats have been in the negative which is very unlike his talent profile.
When it comes to the stats, Ludvig ranks 53rd in SG Approach and 59th GIR from 175-200 yards this week. This type of inconsistency is dangerous around Augusta National, even for a player with Ludvig's talent.
Furthermore, Ludvig has not been the greatest when it comes to Par 4 scoring. With how important the Par 4's are this week, it is concerning to see Ludvig ranking 44th
That's it folks for this week's edition of the Power Fade! We will return to you next week as we are off to Hilton Head Island for the RBC Heritage!
