The Power Fade: 2024 wyndham championship

The Approach to fading big names for the 2024 Wyndham Championship

What’s going on TJ Nation! Ann Arbor's Own Good Ol' AK Allen Klutts here bringing you another edition of the Power Fade: The Fades 8K and Above You Need to Smash Your DraftKings GPP's!

The PGA TOUR returns this week following a break for the Olympics. In an exciting final round that saw Scottie Scheffler chase down the field to win the gold, we now return to the good ol USA and our PGA TOUR Regular Season Finale.

Sedgefield G.C. is our host this week for the Wyndham Championship. A Par 70, playing roughly 7,200 yards; target golf is upon us once again.

When it comes to succeeding at Sedgefield, iron play will be vital. Many iron shots this week will be from 125-175 yards. The Wyndham will often be a putting contest. Often times we have seen winners have extreme positive splits in Strokes Gained Putting.

As we move toward the Fed Ex Cup Playoffs, let us take a look at who will not be great in Greensboro. Bring on the Power Fade for the Wyndham Championship!

Si Woo Kim ($10,000)

Our first Power Fade of the week is a patron Saint in the Tour Junkies orbit. This fade is as bold as they come considering his course history, but nonetheless Si Woo Kim is our first Power Fade at $10,000 even on DraftKings.

Why The Fade Works:

Si Woo certainly has the course history to be considered thee course horse this week. When you look at the stats however, we have a great leverage opportunity.

Statistically Si Woo isn't showing signs of being a 10K guy this week. Ranking 92nd in the key approach range of 150-175 is troubling. Even more concerning is that in an event that will be a birdie-fest, especially if the wet weather that is slapping the southeast continues, Si Woo can't make enough birdies to keep up. This seems like a crazy thought, but when it comes to Par 4 birdies or better, Si Woo ranks a woeful 134th.

Sedgefield C.C. features some of the trickiest Bermuda greens on the PGA Tour. Putting will be an absolute must this week, and Si Woo hasn't been a wizard with the flat stick this year. Coming into the week ranking 116th in putting, mixed with a 10K price tag, we can fade Si Woo.

Maverick McNealy ($8,100)

Our second Power Fade of the week should be a popular play based on his price point, however the stats may not warrant the popularity. Mav McNealy is our second Power Fade of the week, coming to us at $8,100 on DraftKings.

Why The Fade Works:

When it comes to talent on the PGA TOUR, Mav McNealy certainly has the game to be successful. Statistically however, Mav has difficulties that are hard to ignore.

In the key approach range of 125-150 yards, Mav ranks a troubling 137th. Things do not get much better for the Stanford Cardinal, as he ranks 80th from 150-175 yards.

While Mav had a spike Strokes Gained Approach week at the 3M, he still ranks 78th in Strokes Gained Approach. We can pivot away from a potential high owned Mav to Keith Mitchell or Jhonny Vegas.

That's it folks for this week's edition of the Power Fade! We will return to you next week, for the first leg of the Fed Ex Cup Playoffs, as we are off to Memphis!
