The Power Fade: 2024 Sanderson Farms Championship

The Approach to fading big names for the 2024 Sanderson farms Championship

What’s going on TJ Nation! Ann Arbor's Own Good Ol' AK Allen Klutts here bringing you another edition of the Power Fade: The Fades 8K and Above You Need to Smash Your DraftKings GPP's!

As the PGA TOUR returns for the next few weeks, our first stop is Jackson, Mississippi and the Sanderson Farms Championship!

The Country Club of Jackson is our host venue following an exciting President's Cup. A Par 72, playing 7,421 yards, we are back to a wedge fest and making birdies in bunches.

Over the last few years, bombers have also played very well at Jackson CC. Bomb and gauge should be the prevailing strategy this week sans guys who are bunters off the tee.

An interesting fact to keep in mind about the Sanderson: 3 of the last 5 years have featured a playoff.

As we officially kick off the fall swing, let us take a look at who will not be the "cock of the walk" at the Sanderson Farms Championship!

Eric Cole ($9,200)

Our first Power Fade of the week is a name near and dear to all of us in the DFS community. Eric Cole makes his PF debut this week at $9,200 on DraftKings.

Why The Fade Works:

Eric Cole is the type of player who embodies boom/bust. There is no doubt Cole can score in bunches, but his struggling to sustain his ascent up the leaderboard is concerning.

When you look at the statistics, Cole isn't as sound as one may think. It is not exactly a secret that Cole struggles off the tee. Ranking 102nd Strokes at this price tag is troubling. Off the tee alone could keep Cole struggling to climb the leaderboard.

When you look even further into Cole's stats, he actually struggles with Par 4 birdies. Cole ranks 65th in the field for Par 4 Birdies or Better. Considering how nuclear hot Cole can get, this is shocking. Based on these stats we are presented a great opportunity to fade the narrative based on solid stats.

Big numbers always loom for Eric Cole. Bogey Avoidance will be key for success this week. Cole hasn't been a $9,200 golfer based on this stat. Ranking 84th in Bogey Avoidance is alarming. In a high variance type of event like a birdie fest, we can be bold and fade the man, the myth, and legend Eric Cole.

Mackenzie Hughes ($10,000)

Our second Power Fade of the week is a former winner at the Sanderson Farms Championship. Canada's own Mackenzie Hughes makes his PF debut this week at an even 10K on DraftKings.

Why The Fade Works:

Our first reason to fade Mac Hughes is the fact that he just played an intense amount of golf at the President's Cup. This cannot be understated. One would have to think he is exhausted after the mental grind of international team golf.

Statistically speaking, Hughes has weaknesses that warrant the fade. Off the tee, Hughes is incredibly weak. Ranking 110th in Strokes Gained Off the Tee and 111th Strokes Gained Approach is not ideal for a 10K golfer, let alone its Mac Hughes. I get that he is a former winner, but its not like he also can't miss a cut either. Fade Mac Hughes and start your lineups elsewhere.

That's it folks for this week's edition of the Power Fade! We will return to you next week for a new event, The Black Desert Championship!
