The Power Fade: RBC Canadian Open
The Approach to fading big names for the RBC Canadian Open
What’s going on TJ Nation! Ann Arbor's Own Good Ol' AK Allen Klutts here bringing you another edition of the Power Fade: The Fades 8K and Above You Need to Smash Your DraftKings GPP's!
Davis Reilly came from out of nowhere to win the Charles Schwab Challenge. Clearly the tragic and unfortunate passing of Grayson Murray overshadowed the weekend.
We usually use this section of the Power Fade to break down the course and the pending event. However under the circumstances of this past weekend, we are going to talk briefly about the issue of mental health.
When it comes to mental health, especially for men, we need to have a greater focus on taking care of each other, being there, and having a voice that says "Hey, I am not ok". With the way society in 2024 stigmatizes men as a problem, we all need to band together no matter what issue we are having.
No matter the issue: Financial, relationship, substance abuse, ect. people are there for you. Just talking to friends, professionals, God himself can make all the difference.
Check in with your friends, check in with your family. Be that person who tells them I'm here for you, even when things seem to be going in the right direction. We all need these people, myself included. Rest Easy Grayson, you will be missed.
Hamilton Country Club in Hamilton, Ontario plays host to this weeks event. A Par 70 tipping out at 7,084 yards. Once the final putt dropped at the 2019 edition of the Canadian Open at Hamilton, shovels were in the ground redesigning the course. 112 yards, new greens and bunkers were the feature of the redesign.
Without further adieu, let us get into the Power Fades for the RBC Canadian Open.
Tommy Fleetwood ($10,300)
Our first Power Fade of the week is the man who we all had an outright on last year at the Canadian Open, but yet again broke our hearts. Tommy Fleetwood comes in as our first Power Fade at $10,300 on DraftKings.
Why The Fade Works:
Breaking down the stats on Tommy Lad you begin to see some weakness in the key areas this week.
Fleetwood comes into the week ranking an abysmal 131st in Strokes Gained Approach from 175-200 yards. This is shocking to say the least and really gives you pause to playing the Englishman.
Furthermore, Tommy struggles with Strokes Gained Approach as he ranks 85th overall in the field. Considering that the two players more expensive than him in the field (McIlroy and Theegala) are significantly better we should look elsewhere.
Tommy's putter hasn't exactly been on fire of late either. Fleetwood ranks 42nd in putting, which if he was $8,800 might be something we can overlook. At $10,300 and once again considering how well Rory and Sahith rank in the models, we can confidently fade Tommy Lad.
Maverick McNealy ($9,200)
Our second Power Fade of the week is a debutant to the PF. Maverick McNealy, the Stanford product comes to us at $9,200 on DraftKings.
Why The Fade Works:
Mav has seen a resurgence this year. The results he has put up, under the radar for the most part are showing potential for the breakout win soon. However there are still some glaring holes that point to the fade for this week.
McNealy ranks 101st in the key stat range of 175-200 yards this week. Couple this with ranking 56th in Strokes Gained Approach and we have an excellent opportunity to fade. If Mav was $7,200, we could look past these stats. McNealy is playing in the big leagues now and at this price it is just too rich for my blood considering these statistical shortcomings.
That's it folks for this week's edition of the Power Fade! We will be returning to you next week we head to Jack's Place: The Memorial for another Signature Event.
