The Power Fade: 2024 Procare Championship

The Approach to fading big names for the 2024 Procare Championship

What’s going on TJ Nation! Ann Arbor's Own Good Ol' AK Allen Klutts here bringing you another edition of the Power Fade: The Fades 8K and Above You Need to Smash Your DraftKings GPP's!

WE ARE BACK! Technically a new season is upon us as the PGA calendar turns over and we return to Napa Valley.

Silverado C.C. (North Course) plays host to the event known by many names (Frys.com, Fortinet, Safeway). A Par 72, playing just a shade under 7,200 yards, we have returned to wedge-fest season.

While wedges will be in hand all week, they won't exactly all be from the fairway. Silverado has an interesting feature that the hit fairway percentage is quite low. Now the rough isn't exactly penal here, and we should see a winning score hover between -16 to -18.

As take a trip to wine country this week, let's take a look at who we should be fading in our GPP's. Bring on the Power Fade!

J.J. Spaun ($9,000)

Our first Power Fade of the week is a name i'd never thought we'd see kicking off the PF, but here we are. J.J Spaun, who comes to us at a flat 9K on DraftKings kicks off this edition of the Power Fade.

Why The Fade Works:

Just hearing J.J Spaun at $9,000 on DraftKings is nauseating. When you look at the stats, we have an opportunity to make a great fade.

Spaun's putter is horrid. The stats bear this out, and Silverado has always been a putting contest. Ranking a middling 87th in putting, we have to ask ourselves if J.J can even make enough putts to compete.

Spaun isn't exactly stellar off the tee. Even in his recent run of good form, Spaun has ranked 50th in SG off the Tee. Should he revert back to classic J.J Spaun who graces the 6K range, he will be in big trouble.

The touts will also be knee deep in J.J. Spaun love this week. He could easily be the chalk of the 9K range as he fits in nicely with Sahith builds and balanced lineups that fade the 10K range. Fade J.J. and move on to better, more talented plays this week.

Maverick McNealy ($9,400)

Our second Power Fade of the week is the man I believe will be sneaky, narrative based chalk. Mav McNealy returns to the Power Fade at $9,400 on DraftKings.

Why The Fade Works:

Mav McNealy is such an enigma. He is uber talented but somehow hasn't broken thru yet. This week will be no exception.

When you look at the stats, Mav has been abysmal from the key approach range of 125-175. Ranking 102nd from this approach range is mind boggling. It isn't much better from the rough this week either, as Mav ranks 72nd with shots 125-175 from the rough.

That's it folks for this week's edition of the Power Fade! We will return to you in the near future with more fades to win your GPP's.
