``The Power Fade: 2024 Black Desert Championship

The Approach to fading big names for the 2024 Black Desert Championship

What’s going on TJ Nation! Ann Arbor's Own Good Ol' AK Allen Klutts here bringing you another edition of the Power Fade: The Fades 8K and Above You Need to Smash Your DraftKings GPP's!

For the first time in many moons, the PGA TOUR returns to Utah. A new event graces the schedule as we play the Black Desert Championship.

A Tom Weiskopf design, Black Desert Resort plays as a 7371 yard Par 71. Three Par 5's, all of which are reachable in two grace us this week. We also see two drivable Par 4's. The story of this week wil be birdies, birdies, and more birdies.

Elevation will also play a factor as we should see extra distance off the tee. Wedges will be in hand, and whoever can light the scorecard up will walk into the winners circle.

As we continue on the fall swing, let us take a look at who will not be enjoying their time at the resort. BRING ON THE POWER FADES!

Kurt Kitayama ($10,200)

Our first Power Fade of the week is a man who should gain steam because of his local ties, but in reality has no business being in the 10K range. Kurt Kitayama is our first Power Fade of the week at $10,200 on DraftKings.

Why The Fade Works:

Kitayama is a mystery wrapped in an enigma. He can bomb it off the tee, but when it comes to making birdies he flat out struggles.

Looking into the making birdies type statistics, Kitty has major problems. Par 5 Birdies is one particular struggle point. Kurt ranks 85th in Par 5 birdie average. Yes, we only have three this week; however with eagles abound it appears Kitayama will be losing out to the field.

The struggles on Par 5's compound the overall issue Kitayama has which is overall birdie average. Kitty ranks 83rd in birdie average for the week, which in this birdie fest is troubling.

I've said it once, and i'll say it again, in high variance birdie-fests, fade the over priced golfer. Kitty is about 1K too expensive in my opinion, and we should look elsewhere like a Seamus Power or even dare I say it Keith Mitchell.

Ben Griffin ($9,400)

Our second Power Fade of the week is ultra talented, but he has struggles that lend itself to a bold fade. Ben Griffin, the Florida Gator is our second Power Fade at $9,400.

Why The Fade Works:

Griffin has been incredibly poor off the tee. Ranking 94th in Strokes Gained Off the Tee, even with wide fairways isn't ideal. Ben struggles on the Par 5's as well, ranking 53rd.

It may sound weird, but Ben Griffin is also a name in this field. Name value may add a few points on the ownership, which means we could have the opportunity to get a Stephen Jaeger at lower ownership. Fade Ben Griffin and let's take the chance that Jaeger or Chan Kim play better this week.

That's it folks for this week's edition of the Power Fade! We will return to you next week as we are off to Sin City. Las Vegas plays host to the Shriners Children's Open!
