The Power Fade: 2023 Genesis Scottish Open

The Approach to fading big names for the 2023 Genesis Scottish Open

What’s going on TJ Nation! Allen Klutts here with another addition of The Power Fade: The Fades 8k and Above that will help you smash your DraftKings GPP's.

After Sepp Straka caught a heater in Round 4 and took down the John Deere Classic, we head across the pond for the next two weeks.

The Renaissance Club plays host to the Scottish Open for fifth-straight year. We have seen a mixed bag of results in terms of scoring. Much of this is due to the weather. Additionally, we are back to wave advantage/stack season.

Be sure to check your weather reports before setting your DraftKings lineups, and let's get dive in to our Power Fades for the week!

Min Woo Lee ($8,900)

Min Woo Lee is our first fade of the week at $8,900. The New Zealand sensation has captured the hearts and minds of the DFS community, but this week playing Lee will lead to heartbreak.

Why The Fade Works:

Min Woo is an electric player, this is unquestionably true. However, like many electric players, the sizzle hides flaws with the steak.

When you look at the stats for Lee this week, the driver is a notable weakness. Ranking 116th in this field for Good Drives presents a real problem. Furthermore, with a ranking of 105th in Greens in Regulation Gained, we see the potential for Min Woo to bust at his price tag.

On a course where keeping the ball in play will be a major factor, these stats are hard to overlook. Is Min Woo talented enough to overcome these weaknesses? He could, however I am going to be focusing my attentions on players down the board. Max Homa and Sam Burns are projecting for lower ownership, and frankly are better players. Fade Min Woo this week and look elsewhere at better ownership.

Rickie Fowler ($9,500)

This next Power Fade is based more on logic than pure statistical analysis. I have a gut feeling that Rickie Fowler is just not a good play this week at $9,500.

Why The Fade Works:

Rickie has to be running on fumes mentally after getting the monkey off his back with the win at Rocket Mortgage.

Clearly he has been having a great time post victory. Social Media has been abuzz with the pictures Rickie has been taking with JT, Speith, and their wives enjoying Wimbledon and all the sites in London.

The stats are going to LOVE Fowler this week. Clearly there is a good reason for this. However, ownership factored in with real life circumstances makes me wonder if Rickie is really into the Scottish Open this week with a major championship looming.

This could very well be a take it easy week for Rickie, and I think we can find better plays down the board. Fade the ownership here folks, play guys like Wyndy C, or Tommy Lad and move on.

That's it folks for this week's edition of the Power Fade. We will be back for the year's final major: The Open Championship.

Until then Be Bold, Be Brave, and Let's Ride the Power Fade!
